1989 mazda rx-7 - kokomo, intonys pre owned auto saleskokomo, in 46902ph: 7654561788web: www. This is a very nice and clean 1989 mazda rx-7 convertible with 50,223 miles. The car has averaged less then 2400 miles per year, thats very low considering most drivers put 12000 - 15000 miles per year on a vehicle. The car was owned by a mazda enthusiast and only driven during dry summer days. When someone owns a car like this, they normally take very good care of it, maintain it by the book and keeps it in the garage when its not driven, this one lives up to that example. Within the last couple days i had the car inspected by a ase certified repair facility. He inspected it and told me its a very solid little car. He looked it over and took it for a test drive, it does not need brakes and the engine and transmission does not have any mechanical issues. He replaced the engine oil and filter and also replaced the transmission oil and filter. The transmission oil change requires a new oil pan gasket to be installed so he replaced the gasket as well. I also wanted to get a second opinion on this car because its not something that most mechanics see everyday. I have a good friend at a mazda dealer in indianapolis so i drove it down there, he recommended me to their senior mazda mechanic. The mechanic had been at the same mazda store for 25 years and used to work on rx-7 when they were still in production, he made some minor adjustments to the throttle position sensor, did some diagnostic tests and told me it was a sound car. There are absolutely no mechanical issues with the car so i am including a nation wide warranty through a warranty company at no additional cost. This is a $0 deductible warranty good at any repair facility in the u. Mechanically i personally drive all the vehicles i sell for a few days before i get the serviced, this gives me a great idea on how they run and drive. I drove this one for 4 days and put around 150 miles on and it, and i made a 100 mile highway trip with it. This is the first rx-7 i have had and what a fun car it is to drive! It reminds me a lot of the miata only its a little larger car with just a little more interior room. It handles like a real sports car and feels very tight and nimble. It drives great on the highway with cruise control set at 70 mph and it does great in town as well. There are no vibrations in the steering wheel at highway speeds and no abnormal drive train noise. The car does not pull to the left or right while at highway speeds. The engine does not make any abnormal noises, it starts right up every morning and idles smooth when in park. It also accelerates without any hesitation or jerking and the transmission shifts smooth through all gears with no issues, it has a "sport" type shift pattern because of the rotary engine. These engines have their peak torque after 3800 rpm and have a redline of 7000 rpm, so the shifting pattern takes advantage of the peak torque to give the best performance. I did not drive the car hard at all, but i did get on it once or twice just to see how it would do and it did great. It's not a 500 horse power ferrari, but it does really well considering its a 21 year old sports car. The steering feels very solid and the suspension feels great when making a sharp turn with no abnormal suspension squeaks or rattles. There are no issues with the car at all and i wouldn't hesitate to take it to florida and back. Electrical the ac and heat works great, power convertible top works great, cruise control works, power windows work and so does the radio. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
