Replacing the mga in 1962, production of the mgb and its variants continued until 1980, achieving sales for the mgb, mgc and mgb gt v8 combined of 523,836 cars. In structure the mgb was an innovative, modern design in 1962, utilizing a monocoque structure instead of the traditional body-on-frame construction used on both the mga and mg t-types and the mgb's rival, the triumph tr series. However components such as brakes and suspension were developments of the earlier 1955 mga with the b-series engine having its origins in 1947. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard, and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. A parcel shelf was fitted behind the seats. The mgb achieved a 0–60 mph time of just over 11 seconds. The 3-bearing 1798 cc b-series engine produced 95 hp at 5,400 rpm — upgraded in october 1964 to a five-bearing crankshaft. The majority of mgbs were exported to the united states. In 1975 us-market mgb engines were de-tuned to meet emission standards, ride height was increased by an inch , and distinctive rubber bumpers were fitted to meet bumper standards. The mgb was one of the first cars to feature controlled crumple zones designed to protect the driver and passenger in a 30 mph impact with an immovable barrier. This exceptional example is arguably one of the finest mgb''s i have ever seen. Pampered and babied by3 owners from new, the car has always been kept garaged and used on sunny summer days only. Everything is in mint condition on this car, the paint, interior, top, brightwork, there are really no flwas to point out here, just just a great well kept car. Fitted with larger 15" wheels, radial tires, and a mahogany dash, the car is a great handling machine ready to be pressed into immediate service.

1979 mg mgb - kokomo, intonys pre owned auto saleskokomo, in 46902ph: 7654561788web: www. This is a very clean low mileage 1979 mg mgb with 60,587 miles. The car has averaged less than 2000 miles per year, that's really low considering most average drivers put 8000-10000 miles per year on a "weekend" vehicle. I took this car in on trade from an attorney in indianapolis. He had owned more then 5 mg's and told me everything he knew about this car. He only drove it on nice days and had the car parked in the garage when not driven. He spend several thousand dollars on necessary preventive maintenance to keep the car in great condition. The invoice for all the work done is in the glove box, the following things were done to the car during his ownership: new fuel tank, new fuel tank sending unit, undercoating the new fuel tank, new gas tank mounting kit, replaced brake lines, new ignition switch & all new wires. This might be the only mgb currently for sale with a warranty. Engine and transmission is covered at any ase certified mechanic that works on mg's. No deductible and good at any shop in the u. Its a very fun little car to drive, the engine is very strong and the transmission feels great. It accelerates with no issues or hesitations. It has been restored at some point and the paint looks very good, has a very deep gloss to it. The over all paint condition is in near new condition with no clear coat or rust issues on any panel or underneath the vehicle. This car would be great for someone to park in the garage and enjoy driving on nice dry days.
